Now that flowers are starting to bloom and April is here, our team at Santa Barbara Children’s Dentistry is welcoming spring and celebrating Oral Health Awareness month! This month helps us remember how important it is to take care of our teeth and gums. Taking care of our mouths can even help us take better care of our whole bodies!
Everything in our bodies is connected, so having a good oral hygiene routine and visiting Dr. Cox for regular check-ups can help us stay happy and healthy. Let’s focus on 5 ways we can all celebrate Oral Health Awareness Month.
- Visit our office! We can think of a better way to celebrate this month than to schedule your routine dental check-up with Dr. Cox. Regular dental visits are a great way to stay proactive and to prevent cavities, gum disease and other dental issues. With preventative cleanings and routine check-ups, our team at Santa Barbara Children’s Dentistry can intervene in the nick of time to keep your smile healthy!
- Upgrade your oral hygiene habits. Think about everything you do in your oral hygiene routine. Make sure you’re brushing at least twice a day for two minutes at a time. Upgrade your oral hygiene tools and invest in an electric toothbrush and some fluoride toothpaste.
- Practice healthy habits. Oral Health Awareness Month is the perfect time to establish healthy habits. Pay attention to how many acidic and sugary treats you eat because both can contribute to tooth decay. Try to eat as many whole, unprocessed foods as possible, like fresh fruits and vegetables, that will promote your oral health.
- Visit an orthodontist. Did you know that the American Association of Orthodontists recommends all children visit the orthodontist by age 7? An early orthodontic evaluation can allow your orthodontist to catch any problems before they become more complex, minimizing your treatment. Straight smiles are easier to care for and will help boost your smile confidence in no time!
- Spread the word! Make sure to share this educational information with your friends so they can practice healthy oral health habits, too. Encourage your friends and family to prioritize their health by investing in the health of their smile.
